Piramidi di terra Segonzano

Leaving the Canazei town we did think of one last ride up to the mountain peaks but drove to one of the mountain lakes instead.

But before we forget Canazei this is a photo of our hotel and the last rays of light on the mountains. The same view from our room!

We drove to Lake Carezza that has beautiful blue water. Worth driving back up to visit.

Gail at the lake. The legend is that a beautiful water nymph sits by the lake but is very shy and hard to capture on film. Did I succeed?

Our next visit was the wonderful Piramidi di terra Segonzano, sometimes called the old men of Segonzano.  We had to climb a very steep hill to the site but the view looking back down shows the valley and the first of the landforms created by erosion but protected in parts by rock caps.

This is to show the erosion

It was very hot and we retreated to a tiny little bar and ate onion rings washed down with beer and prosecco. Very Italian?

We were back in wine territory and close to the prosecco heartland.

We finally made it into Trento and returned our car. We are staying in the old city with no cars allowed then off to a few stops before Venice.

We are told that in Medieval times they built walls to keep out cars.

Photo taken from our hotel window in Trento.
