We went to visit Doc Martin and Louisa on Saturday.
Stating early we visited a series of North Cornwall towns. Each had special qualities but they had one thing in common. Traffic! Our first stop was St Ives. If you want to see St Ives the best way is to be born there! It was Easter Saturday but we had trouble parking even with long walks.The views were spectacular and we loved the harbour. The prices in the shops are also spectacular. We parked illegally outside the Tate St Ives very briefly!
We also visited St Agnes. Much smaller but just as busy. It is worth another visit...but not on a holiday weekend. Driving around to Perranporth we were sure we would escape the crowds. It had good sandy beaches but also lots of visitors today.
We also visited Newquay and Padstow but the governing factor was always finding places to park. We enjoyed each.
There were lots of spectacular coastal scenes.
We finally made it up to Doc's territory! Our first stop was Port Quin just to the south. The drive in was one car wide but once we arrived others seemed to have made it as well! Very picturesque. The harbour is tiny and boats can only go out at high tide.

We finally made it to Port Isaac or for the Doc Martin fans Port Wenn. We did manage to find a good park and our luck had changed. We walked through the town and down to the harbour that is the centre of everything in this very pretty little town. The tide was out so all the boats sat on the sand. We recognised many of the places and found them very compact. They are much closer than they appear to be in the TV series.
Out first visit was to Doc Martins. You don't get past the front door!
We did consider booking this house for the Easter week. One of the conditions was that it may have been required for filming! We were told that they will be filming tomorrow (Monday) They only use the entry for the show. The inside scenes are taken in a studio.
This was taken from Doc Martins front door. If we had fallen the Doc would have been in trouble as there would have been lots of blood!
Just a few doors down was Burt's restaurant. It was not operating so we had to find somewhere else to eat.
It would make a great restaurant.
At the bottom of the hill was Mrs Tishall's pharmacy. It is actually a confectionery shop.
We had a very late lunch in the pub opposite. There are only a few and the others had stopped serving food. Directly behind was the harbour and next to it the Life Boat station. You recognised almost every building!
It was a most enjoyable visit. We also saw Louisa's house on the coastal path, the schoolhouse that was very close so she should not have been late to work. The school is actually a hotel!

Water looks great but pretty sure it be on the cold side
I'm giggling madly to myself - when you said you were visiting Doc Martin's I thought it had something to do with shoes!
