Off to Cornwall

We drove down to Cornwall for our Easter stop. We are looking forward to spending more than one night in the same bed!
Had a great day on the way. Just up from Torquay we stopped at the next beach along, Paignton as it had the best collection of beach shacks that we have seen.

We stopped at Totnes. It was a very pretty place with people who like to be a little different. We stopped at the River Dart where you can catch England's only paddle steamer down to Dartmouth.

Could show you 20 pictures of reflections!

We drove up to Dartmoor National Park. At Buckfastleigh we visited the Benadictine Abbey of Buckfast. It was built in 1018 in King Canute's time but destroyed in 1539 under King Henry VIII.
Rebuilt in 1907-1938 today it is stunning.

There were very modern stained glass windows built by the monks on site. It also had the best shop .

We made a donation to the church and came away with one of each of these and a bottle of red"tonic" wine made at the Abbey. The beer on the right won the "Yorkshire Best Drink" award.

We also had a stop at Dartington and the private village including Dartington Hall on the 1200 acres estate. Wonderful gardens.
We drove on to Plymouth and saw old and new ships and many historic buildings.
Arriving in Marazion we found our home for the five nights. It is a great little B&B and our room has just been totally refurbished and has a view over St Michael's Mount.

Taken from our restaurant from last night. We will go out to the castle when the tide is out!
