Looking for Dragons

Gail started the day in the shipboard spa. Great weather for hot rocks! Afterwards we were soon ashore to visit Split. We were close to the Old Town that is inside the walls of the Diocletian Palace.
We strolled in the heat looking at the remains of one of the masterpieces of the Roman era. Diocletian was born near Split so when he became Emperor he built his retirement palace here. We looked at the Cathedral that had been built as Diocletian’s crypt and was later converted into a church and named after the Bishop that he had killed. Later we explored the new crypt, the Baptistery that was the former Temple of Jupiter and climbed the Bell Tower where we had great views over the city and beyond.

View from the top of the tower

You can see our tiny little boat. It is the white one.

We also did a little Dragon hunting! We went through the basement levels of the palace but the dragons kept out of sight! Some of you would know that this was the scene for where the dragons were kept in the “Game of Thrones” We are not followers so someone can add her name. It was as hot as if we were breathing dragon fumes so we retired back to the yacht for a gin and tonic and a late lunch. We plan to go back ashore in the late afternoon.

                                                                Can you see any?
