From Tallinn to Riga

We had a great trip from Tallinn down to Riga. We went by a mini bus with stops along the way at greatly contrasting venues.
Our first stop after two hours was at Viljandi. This is an historic place of many battles and there are fortifications and town walls remaining.

Sections of the remaining walls and fortifications.

                                                                 Rob at the gate.

On a lighter note we all hopped on the giant swing. 5 on one side and 4 on the other. On some you can do a full 360 degree loop but we were much more sedate. There were a few squarmy tummies!

The buildings in the town centre.

We drove on to an old  military museum. Had huge helicopters from Germany and old Russian tanks along with display rooms.

Gail had the hide to say that she was having a bad hair day!

Rob or is it James Bond tries to infiltrate the KGB.

We enjoyed the lunch together. Note the walls in the background!

We drove on to the Ganja National Park and had a walk along the river and the sandstone cliffs. We ended up picking wild blueberries that were prolific.

We past the Sietiniezis Rock where the devil jumped the river splitting the rock in the process.

All the photos of us with the wild blueberries had our bums in the air! So, you just get the blueberries!!

Our next stop was at Cesis where we saw a wonderful old castle from the 13th century. The scene of battles against the Russians, Polish and Swedish.

It was a great visit along with a coffee break.

Our final stop was at the Bobsled track that was built by the Russians,  We took the lift to the top and walked down one section. In winter it is covered with ice and they go down at speed.

                                                          Looking down on one track.

                                                         Who needs a bobsled?

It was late as we left for the final leg to Riga
