Aboard the Hogwarts Express

Yes we have ridden on the Hogwarts Express.

For our young readers and the young at heart, the train we travelled on to Mallaig called the Jacobite Express was the Hogwarts Express in all the Harry Potter movies.

Our driver, Frank, was the driver for each of the movies.

The most spectacular part of the trip was across the Glenfinnan Culvert that was a famous scene in the movie.

How cool is that. Of course I'm one of your younger readers.

Just patiently waiting until 21st July to find out if Harry dies.

Hey! My name is Frank,,,
And when Jan and I went on the Hogwarts Express, back in 1986, it was called 'The train from Fort William to Mallaig". The curve in the viaduct allows classic 'train rider vision', for us the highlight came later when we passed close to a waist-coated Gillie [sp?] clasping the oars of a beautiful wooden boat, while his toffee-nosed client cast his flies upon the surface of the water. Billy Connolly would have expostulated!
I wonder if you caught the Thursday ferry up the Kyle of Sleat to the Kyle of LochAlsh [sp?]
Now, like Catweazle, I will press the button and see if "It works!" Travel well

We actually caught the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale but on the return trip drove across the bridge across the Kyle of Lochalsh - not as romantic as the ferry but certainly cheaper especially now they have removed the toll.

Hey, I've been on that train too! But before it got famous. Dunvegan Castle is my ancestral home.
