Muyuna Lodge Tamshiyacu Reserve

We went by speedboat 140 km up the river to the Muyuna Lodge. Another fast trip dodging tree trunks and for the last hour in torrential rain. After lunch we explored the forest near the lodge and after dinner a boat trip to see the caiman. The next day we explored further afield and even did some fishing.

The bird life was prolific with many species

The trees are at various levels as they all fight for light and nutrients

                                                                          A little caiman

The next morning we had another sighting of a sloth. We were too quick for this one!

Vines and lianas of every size

Cut a section of vine and you have a fresh pure drink

The trees dwarf you. The buttress roots support them. The medieval churches copied the design.

                                                         We did stop for breakfast

Gail with a canon ball fruit, a favourite of some monkeys

In the afternoon we headed out again and soon caught an anaconda. It was only a few months old.

The next challenge was to catch a piranha

Kiss and release is a risky procedure with a piranha!

Our night adventure was about spiders and frogs. This is a sample:

                                                        A Red Tailed Tarantula

This species is good eating...so we were told!

It all looks amazing! Although I don't know if it's much of a boast to be too quick for a sloth!
