We travelled the 380 km from Cusco to Puno on roads that resulted in a very slow trip. It was a great series of interactions with locals and some major Inca and Pre Inca sites.
Our first stop was at a school where the children walk up to 2 hours each way. It was a delight.
This is what the children wear. No not school uniform but traditional dress. Especially with the women you can tell what region they are from by the clothing that they are wearing.
The gifts for the children and the school
Wonderful traditional dress. The children speak Quechuan the current Inca language.
Our next stop was at The Temple of Wiraqocha. This has both Inca and Pre Inca elements. Another great temple.

Gail the archaeologist
The archaeologists at the Pre Inca grain storage structures. One has had a roof reconstructed.
We went over a pass today at 4335 metres but the altitude sickness is now under control. We actually made a purchase from this local lady.
Look at the snow capped peaks in the background. They are 5443 and 5489 metres

We passed through several major industrial cities and finally arrived at our hotel after 5.00pm. Our room has a great view of Lake Titicaca. Tomorrow we visit the famous floating islands
