On our last day in Fairbanks we had a great visit to The Museum of The South at The University of Alaska, Fairbanks. They had excellent exhibitions of The First Nation Peoples.
We arrived in Seattle late after our flight but this morning we were ready to explore. We started with the Seattle underground. When the city was built it was pegged out at low tide and the city had major sanitation problems so when the city burnt down they rebuilt at a higher level. We were able to explore the old city one level below the current city. Many businesses use the earlier ground floor for storage or for bars etc. A great trip

The area in places had not changed much since the great fire and was the start of a great new city

The sidewalk of Seattle from pre fire days

Another interesting thing happening in Seattle today was the conversion of sections of the road into pop up parks!

I am having computer problems and will soon give up as the photos are also in pop up mode...popping up anyplace that they like!
Read the info and match it with a photo!! I think I am typing this in caption mode!!

I give up ! Will try again in a day or so

Glad to see you did the underground trip to add to all your underground wanderings. Matt is quite taken with the idea of swapping the stove for beer. :-)
