Flathead Lake

We had a day driving the Flathead Lake National Forest. This was easier on the legs than the walks of the past few days.
We left West Glacier and drove straight past the Glacier Distillery without stopping! Our first stop was the South Lion Lake on the way to Hungry Horse Dam

                                         The Hungry Horse Dam

We continued past the Huckleberry pie and Ice Cream shops, along the south fork of the Flathead River and past the casinos of Columbia Falls. We detoured to Lake Blain past Mennonite communities and to parts that had never seen a tourist! We came back to the main route but passed the Flathead Lake Brewing Company and continued around the Flathead Lake.
The lake is about 80 km long and we eventually did stop for lunch but not a brewery, distillery or huckleberry in sight.
Our lunch spot at Yellow Bay State Park. This was taken after we had cleared away the plates and packed up the scraps so the bears didn't join us.

We continued around the lake with stops to view the luxury homes and lots of other view  points.
The homes around Polson were the best.

Apparently Blogger is notoriously unstable for commenters. I didn't know this when I set the blog up for the globe trotters!
