A Little more of Amsterdam

We returned to Amsterdam to join our River Cruise. The train from Haarlem is fast and efficient so in no time we were back in The Dam to enjoy coffee followed by beer and wine. The city was in chaos as they prepared for a visit by the Queen's parents from Argentina. The Queen abdicated in favour of her son and his Argentinian wife is very popular. They now have three girls!

                                                         Watching the preparations.

After boarding our River Boat we had a relaxing afternoon and the next morning were to be shown around the city. It was in lockdown so pity those who had not seen the historic centre!
We joined a long canal ride around the prime spots.

Buildings date from 1600 to 1700, the Golden Age of Amsterdam. There was money to build the houses that we still see today.

Would you reverse park along this waterway?

Great reflections in these old canal front houses. Some are very old.

Some of the houses have serious leans and need expensive repairs. In front are a number of houseboats. It costs a lot for the mooring fee!

The buildings are from different eras. These are more modern!

We returned to the boat and in the evening sailed for Nijmegen. If you want an advanced report check out our blog from last year!!
