Driving in Tuscany

We set out from Buonconvento to check out a few more hilltop towns. At Montalcino we walked up and down the hills to visit the Duomo and several churches  along with the clock tower and the markets

We stopped at this little cafe because Gail matched the decor. Drinks were very welcome.

After a few hours we drove on to St. Antimo Abbey. It was very simple inside but a most impressive building.

We also visited a top shelf winery but it was the setting of the Abbey that was memorable.

We had a lighter lunch with just a pasta. The heavy lunches of the past few days are taking their toll!
Gail had tagliatelle with asparagus and almonds

Rob had the tagliatelle with wild boar. Two delicious but simple dishes.

After lunch we drove to Bagno Vignoli but did not opt for a mud bath. Instead we tried the gelato!
Our final stop was at Bagni S. Filippo were there are natural hot springs in the oak forests. Feel 20 years younger!!

We relaxed under this hot waterfall treating all our old joints. Shame about the smell!

This was a stunning location but we drove back to Buonconvento for a quiet night with drinks with local cheese and delicious tiny tomatoes...and gelato
