Park and Art

Despite the light rain, we walked up to Central Park and had a very pleasant stroll.  The size is massive so we only saw a fraction of what it has to offer.

We came out just a 1/2 block from the Metropolitan Museum of Art which is truly one of the great art  museums of the world.

We spent the rest of the day here with just a brief stop for lunch but estimate we only saw about 20% of the collection on display.  It takes at least 5 days to do it justice.

we really enjoyed the Impressionists and saw some stunning works by Monet, Renoir etc with at least a room dedicated to most artists.

Our other favourite area was the Egyptian Wing which even included a full temple which had been removed before the Aswan Dam would have flooded it.

A wonderful day before we fly out to Toronto.

This gives you some idea of the size of Central Park

Picasso as a Harlequin - quite different from his later style.

Next year's beach wear fashion - thongs with toe covers - thanks to the       Egyptians.

What a beautiful park. I hear it is very scary after dark, but it does look lovely. Next time I build a large city I shall be sure to reserve a large parcel of land in the middle for a park.
