This is Benjamin Cheverton's machine. It was invented 150 years before the 3D printer and he used it to make miniature copies from sculptures. Is it Mechanics or is it Art?
There were wonderful paintings including impressionists but the important collection is from The Group of Seven. This small group of artists painted in Northern Ontario and made a major contribution to World art.
Note that there is no shopping bag in the next photo! The trains have a lower weight limit on bags than the flights!

What fascinating art, from close up it's almost cartoonish, step back and it's very high modality - almost stepping past realism to hyper-real (and thus back to low modality...why is it everything I know about art I learnt as a post-grad English student studying picture books?).

PS Matt got very excited about the model maker - so much better than an exocet (the rip off of this machine not the missile!)
