Going on a Bear Hunt

With our cameras fully loaded and spare magazines or at least memory cards we set off across the "Going to the Sun" road.No sooner had we started the drive but we came across a Black Bear very close to the road. Most bear sightings are from a considerable distance!

A little inquisitive but mainly interested in digging up a few tasty roots as he finished fattening up for winter. Black bear is a species and can be brown, red and many other shades but often black.

              He came down to the road and crossed very close to us. No time to zoom just snap.
Eventually we drove on and later had another bear sighting. This time a much rarer Grizzly but at a much greater distance.

We drove down the steepest section of the road with very narrow road made even narrower by the newly erected snow poles to mark the end of the road.
When we left home our research indicated that the road was closed a few days ago. When we drove down from Waterton we came through the "Big Chief" border crossing on its last day for the season. Much is closed like restaurants, all the accommodation in the park, etc but the road remains open .We leave on Sunday and the road closes at 7am on Monday. Photos of the road to follow!

Our late lunch spot. Lake McDonald is another perfect lake. The only problem is that the pebbles are too rounded to skip over the surface.Perhaps that is by design to prevent the destruction of the reflections!

We also had a pre dusk drive out to another section called Many Glaciers. More animals and wonderful scenery
