We managed to avoid the tourist police who lurk at the railway station to catch tourists and impose an on the spot fine and have arrived in Moscow.
It was a pleasant trip of 8 hours and they even provide lunch and tea/coffee. As we came into Moscow you cannot help noticing the massive power stations on the outskirts of town along with the industry.
Our apartment is 5 minutes walk from the Kremlin in the centre of the city. It has all mod cons and we have on line internet. We are looking forward to our visit

Really tourist police? What do they fine you for? (Not drinking enough vodka on the train trip or not liking caviar come to mind)
My dream visit in Moscow would definately be the Bolshoi
What on earth do they fine you for as you arrive????
Russia has very strict Visa requirements. You need a formal invitation (you can buy it on line),a Russian Visa and when you arrive you must register your visa (It costs about $50to do this)
The Tourist police look for Visa violations. They target backpackers and certain groups.
They also fine you for crossing the road in the wrong place
